What we collect when you ask us about your boat, what the website records on its own, and what happens if you tell it no.

Who we are

Bayside Boat Detailing, LLC. We are a mobile boat detailing business working across Tampa Bay, Florida. We work out of Ruskin and we come to your boat, so there is no shop to walk into and no street address on this site.

Email BaysideboatdetailingFL@gmail.com or call 813-480-7558.

What you send us

If you use the quote form, we collect your name, your phone number, your email address if you choose to give one, and the area or ZIP your boat is in. About the boat: how long it is, its year, make, model and color, how the gel coat looks, and where it is kept. If you attach photos, we collect those. We also record whether you ticked the box saying it is fine to text and email you.

Photos go to storage run by the company that hosts this site, and the quote request Tim receives carries a link to them. The link is long and unguessable, and it is not listed or indexed anywhere.

If you call, text or email instead, we have whatever you send that way.

We do not ask for payment details on this website, we do not ask for your street address before a quote, and we do not buy information about you from anybody.

What the website records

Always, whether or not you accept cookies: which pages get looked at, roughly which part of the world a visit came from, and what kind of device and browser it used. This comes from the company that hosts the site. It stores nothing on your device, it does not identify you, and it does not follow you anywhere else. It is how we know which pages are worth writing more of.

Only if you accept: analytics, which does store cookies on your device and does build a picture of how you moved through the site, including whether you sent a quote request or tapped a phone number, and advertising tags, which tell us whether an ad brought you here and let us show ours to people who have been on this site before. We do advertise, so both are set up.

The tag manager that carries them reads the choice you made on the cookie banner before it loads anything at all, so neither runs unless you say yes.

If you arrive from an advert: the link you clicked carries a code saying which advert it was, and we keep that for the length of your visit so that it can travel with your quote request. It tells us which adverts are worth paying for. It is not a cookie, it is not shared with anyone, it never leaves your browser unless you actually send us a quote request, and closing the tab erases it.

Cookies, and what happens if you say no

This site sets no cookies of its own. The only ones that can appear are Google's and Facebook's, and they appear only after you have said yes.

The site enforces that. Before anything else on the page runs, every storage permission is set to denied, and it only changes when you change it.

What happens if you say no. Nothing is stored on your device, and Facebook is never contacted at all. Google's tag manager does still load, because it is the thing that enforces your answer, and Google receives one note that a page was looked at. That note carries no cookie, no identifier and nothing that could be traced back to you, and it is the same information described above that we get anyway. Nothing follows you to another website.

The banner has two buttons the same size, because refusing should be no harder than agreeing, and nothing is ticked in advance. Cookie settings at the foot of every page brings it back whenever you want, so you can change your mind as easily as you made it up.

Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device, it is never sent to us, and clearing your browsing data clears it.

One other thing can store something: if you press play on a video, YouTube may. Nothing reaches Google before you press play, and the videos use YouTube's privacy preserving player.

What we do with what you send

We use it to work out what your boat needs, give you a price, arrange a day, do the work, and send you photos when we are finished. We keep a record of the boats we have worked on, so when you come back we already know yours.

If you ticked the box, we may also text or email you about your boat: a reminder that it is due, or a note about something we spotted. Reply STOP at any time, or just tell us.

We do not sell your information and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing.

Who else handles it

Inside the business, Tim and the technicians working on your boat see what they need to do the job.

Outside it, three companies hold some of it on our behalf:

  • The system we use to take quote requests and keep our customer records.
  • The company that hosts this website and provides the visitor figures above.
  • Google, for analytics if you accept it, and for YouTube if you press play on a video.

Each of them handles it on our behalf under their own terms, and we will tell you which they are if you ask. Nobody else gets it unless you ask us to pass it on, or unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep quote requests and customer records for as long as you are a customer, and for up to five years after that. A boat we detailed three years ago is one we may be asked to look at again, and the record of what was done to it is worth having when that happens. After five years it goes. Ask us to delete your details sooner and we will, unless something has to be kept for tax or legal reasons.

Your choices

Ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: BaysideboatdetailingFL@gmail.com or 813-480-7558.

Stop marketing texts and emails by replying STOP or by telling us. That does not stop us contacting you about a job you have actually booked.

Change your cookie choice through Cookie settings at the foot of any page.

Children

This site is for boat owners and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection and the companies above hold what they hold under their own arrangements. No website can promise perfect security and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Changes

If how any of this works changes, this page changes and so does the date at the top of it.

The terms we work under are on the terms of service page.
