How do I keep my Boston Whaler clean after a day on the water?

At Bayside Boat Detailing, we talk to a lot of boat owners (obviously).

In talking to them, we get asked a lot of questions. Recently, a client of ours in St. Pete asked, “I have a 27 foot Boston Whaler – what is the best way to keep the boat clean after a day out on the bay?”

Great question. While we generally work on helping our Tampa Bay clients with deep cleans and detailing, it’s nice knowing that they’re keeping up with basic maintenance.

Keeping your Boston Whaler boat clean after a day on the water is essential for maintaining its appearance and longevity.

Here are some tips to help you keep it sparkling:

  1. Rinse it down: As soon as you get back to the dock, give your boat a thorough rinse with fresh water. This helps remove salt, sand, and other debris that can cause damage if left to dry on the surface.

  2. Use a mild soap: After rinsing, use a gentle boat soap and a soft sponge or brush to clean the exterior of the boat. Avoid harsh cleaners that can damage the gel coat or paint.

  3. Clean the interior: Don't forget to clean the interior of your boat as well. Vacuum any dirt or debris, wipe down surfaces with a mild cleaner, and clean any upholstery according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

  4. Protect the surfaces: Consider applying a marine wax or polish to protect the gel coat and keep your boat looking shiny. This can also make it easier to clean in the future.

  5. Don't neglect the engine: After each outing, flush the engine with fresh water to remove any salt or debris that could cause corrosion. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for engine maintenance.

  6. Cover it up: When your boat is not in use, cover it with a boat cover or store it in a covered area to protect it from the elements and reduce the need for frequent cleaning.

By following these tips, you can keep your Boston Whaler boat looking great and ready for your next adventure on the water. If you’re looking for a more advanced wash and detailing or refurbishment, call us today.
